Monstera and Rhaphidophora Plants for Sale in Australia
This collection often includes favourites like Monstera deliciosa and Rhaphidophora tetrasperma—well-known for their dramatic foliage and climbing habit—as well as less common varieties such as Rhaphidophora hayi and Monstera standleyana. All plants are grown indoors or sourced from trusted Australian growers, so they’re already adjusted to real home conditions.
What’s the Difference Between Monstera and Rhaphidophora?
While they can look similar at first glance, Monstera and Rhaphidophora are different genera. Monstera deliciosa has larger leaves with natural splits and holes (fenestration), while Rhaphidophora tetrasperma—often called “Mini Monstera”—has smaller, deeply lobed leaves. Both are climbers and grow well indoors with support.
Why Are My Monstera Leaves Not Fenestrating (Splitting)?
Monsteras develop fenestrations (splits and holes) as they mature—but one of the most common reasons they don’t split is a lack of structural support. These plants are natural climbers and need to anchor onto something, like a grow pole or trellis, to feel stable. Without that support, they often retain juvenile leaves. Bright, indirect light and consistent care will also help, but climbing is key.
Are Monstera and Rhaphidophora Toxic to Pets?
Yes. Both genera contain calcium oxalate crystals, which are toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Consider our pet-safe plant collection if you have curious pets at home.
How to Care for Monstera and Rhaphidophora Indoors
These tropical climbers prefer bright, indirect light and well-draining soil. Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry between waterings. Support growth with a moss pole or trellis, and provide moderate humidity for best results. They’re adaptable and thrive with steady care.
