Anthurium Crystallinum species is known for its large, velvety, heart-shaped leaves with prominent shimmering veins and a stunning iridescent sheen. This epiphytic plant has red emergent leaves and circular smooth petioles

As these plants are Anthurium Crystallinum Hybrids, they retain many of the striking features of their parent plant. These features include the distinctive velvety texture and bold, contrasting veins. Hybrids, however, often exhibit some unique characteristics that set them apart from their species counterparts. For example, the hybrid leaves may have slightly different shapes, sizes, or colours.

The plant pictured is the plant you will receive. They require warm temperatures and humidity to really thrive. They have been grown in passive hydro (perlite & GT complete focus diluted to 5 ml per litre of water). Please see the 'more info' section below to learn more about the current growing conditions and suggested care on arrival.

We find that Anthuriums grow well in passive hydroponics, and growing them this way makes them easier to care for.

If grown in soil, they'll need an extremely well draining mix. It's also important to keep their soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged, as Anthuriums are susceptible to root rot. To encourage healthy growth, fertilise your Anthurium every 4-6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser. Anthuriums are susceptible to fertiliser burn, so stick to a weak dilution of fertiliser.

CURRENT GROWING CONDITIONS

This plant has been propagated and grown in hydroponics medium. All of our hydroponics plants are potted up in leca, perlite, or MAB grow, and left sitting in 1 - 2 cm of nutrient solution at all times. Our nutrient solution is made up of Growth Technology Foliage Focus or Complete Focus diluted to 5 ml per litre of water.

Before being sent to you, this plant was growing in our climate controlled grow room. Temperatures sit abouve 20 C at all times, and relative humidity does not drop below 60%.

SUGGESTED CARE ON ARRIVAL

This plant will arrive in its pot along with the hydroponic medium it is currently growing in. If you would ike to continue growing this plant as we have, in a hydroponic medium, then all you need to do it sit it in a shallow container of nutrient water.

In general, we find that plants transition from hydroponics mediums to soil without any issues. However, if you want to transition the plant into soil with extra caution, then you can keep it in the medium it arrived in for a few days. This will allow your plant to acclimate to your environment before transitioning to a new medium. You will need to sit the pot in 1 - 2 cm of water to prevent the roots from drying out. Long term the plant will need nutriets added to the water, but if you only plan to grow it this way for a week or so then it'll be fine without the addition of nutrients.

When ready, you can pot the plant up in a well-draining soil mix. 50% premium potting mix and 50% perlite works well, but adding .extra amendments such as orchid bark for extra drainage can help in creating an optimum soil mix. These extra amendments should especailly be used for anthuriums, which require extra drainage. If you require more specific information about soil mix, please contact us.
