Variegated Ficus Rubiginosa – A Rare & Hardy Ornamental Fig

The Variegated Ficus rubiginosa, also known as the Port Jackson Fig, is a striking, hardy fig with beautifully mottled green and creamy-yellow leaves. Native to Australia, this species is well-loved for its adaptability, resilience, and stunning foliage, making it a standout feature in any collection.

Why Choose Variegated Ficus Rubiginosa?

  • Unique Variegation: Features a mix of deep green and yellow-cream splashes on each leaf.
  • Hardy & Low Maintenance: Thrives in a range of conditions, from indoor pots to outdoor gardens.
  • Great for Bonsai or Large Spaces: Can be pruned to stay compact or allowed to grow into a statement tree.
  • Australian Native: Well-adapted to various climates and naturally resilient.

Care Guidelines

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can handle some direct sun. The variegation will be more pronounced with higher light exposure.
  • Soil & Watering: Likes well-draining soil. Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry between waterings to prevent overwatering.
  • Temperature & Humidity: Tolerates a range of conditions but prefers warmth.
  • Pruning & Growth: Can be trained as a bonsai for a compact look or left to grow into a lush ornamental tree.

Shipping for plants to non-quarantine states is capped at $18.00 per order. Shipping for plants to WA and TAS is capped at $30.00 per order. We currently do not ship plants to NT.

Shipping costs include packing materials, labour, and certification where required. We use recycled packaging where possible to reduce waste and keep costs down, while ensuring all packing materials are sturdy enough to protect your plants during transit.

If no one is home to receive your order, the parcel will be left in a safe place. We do not request signature on delivery, as parcels returned to the post office may not be collected for several days, which can place additional stress on the plant(s) inside.
