Sansevieria masoniana – The Iconic Whale Fin

Sansevieria masoniana, commonly known as the Whale Fin, is a striking and sculptural species of Sansevieria, prized for its broad, paddle-shaped leaf. Its impressive size at full maturity and bold form make it a standout piece in any indoor plant collection.

The Whale Fin displays a deep green leaf mottled with lighter green speckles. While often sold as a single leaf plant, it can eventually form clumps as it matures. Its upright growth and minimal care requirements make it ideal for modern interiors and low-maintenance spaces.

Care Requirements

  • Light: Tolerates low light but prefers bright, indirect light for optimal growth. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh direct sun, which can cause discolouration.
  • Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. This drought-tolerant plant is highly sensitive to overwatering and prone to rot if kept too moist.
  • Soil: Requires a free-draining potting mix. A cactus or succulent blend is ideal.
  • Humidity: Adaptable to a wide range of indoor humidity levels.

We only ship plants on Mondays. Please order before 2pm on Sunday to ensure your plant will be sent the following Monday. Orders placed after this time MIGHT not be shipped untill the following week.

We only ship plants to non-quarantine states (sorry sorry WA, TAS and NT residents). Shipping of plants is capped at $18.00 per order. This includes the packing materials and labour times. We use recycled packing where possible to reduce our waste and keep cost down, but we ensure that all packing material is sturdy enough to resist damage during transit.

If no one is home to receive your order, the parcel will be left in a safe place. We will not request signature on delivery, as parcels sent back to the post office may not get picked up for days, therefore increasing the amount of stress placed on the plant(s) inside.

This plant can also be picked up from the Northern Wellbeing Centre; 113C miller st, Epping VIC. If you select this option at check-out, we will email you to organise a pick-up time.
