Pilosocereus pachycladus, commonly known as Blue Torch Cactus, is a columnar cactus valued for its blue-green stems, upright growth habit and golden spines. Its strong vertical form makes it a great choice for cactus collectors, sunny windowsills, and bright indoor spaces.

Pilosocereus pachycladus – Blue Torch Cactus for Bright Indoor Spaces

Blue-Green Stems with Golden Spines

This cactus is best known for its cool blue-green colouring, which contrasts beautifully with its pale golden spines. As it matures, it develops a taller, more columnar shape with a clean architectural look.

A Striking Cactus for High-Light Positions

Blue Torch Cactus grows best in very bright light and can handle direct sun once gradually acclimatised. A sunny windowsill, enclosed patio, greenhouse, or bright indoor growing setup is ideal.

Low Water Needs and Easy Care

Use a free-draining cactus or succulent mix and allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly, especially during cooler months, as this plant is much more tolerant of being kept dry than sitting in wet soil.

May Produce White Night-Flowering Blooms When Mature

Older, well-grown plants may produce large white flowers that open at night. Flowering is more likely once the plant is mature and grown in strong light with suitable seasonal conditions.

Please note: The plant pictured is a representation of the plant you will receive. Each cactus will vary slightly in size, shape, colour and spine formation.

Shipping

We ship plants every Monday to non-quarantine states. Please place your order before 2 pm on Sunday to ensure your plant is sent the following Monday. Orders placed after this time may not be shipped until the following week.

Orders to WA and TAS are shipped on selected dates only due to quarantine requirements. Orders for WA and TAS must be placed by 12 pm (midday) on the Friday before dispatch. Please see the list of WA and TAS shipping dates at the bottom of this page.

Shipping for plants to non-quarantine states is capped at $18.00 per order. Shipping for plants to WA and TAS is capped at $30.00 per order. We currently do not ship plants to NT.

Shipping costs include packing materials, labour, and certification where required. We use recycled packaging where possible to reduce waste and keep costs down, while ensuring all packing materials are sturdy enough to protect your plants during transit.

If no one is home to receive your order, the parcel will be left in a safe place. We do not request signature on delivery, as parcels returned to the post office may not be collected for several days, which can place additional stress on the plant(s) inside.

This plant can also be picked up from Northern Wellbeing Centre, 113C Miller Street, Epping VIC. If you select this option at checkout, we will email you to arrange a pickup time.
