Philodendron Jose Buono – Rare Climbing Aroid with Striking Variegation

The Philodendron Jose Buono is a slow-growing, epiphytic climber native to the tropical rainforests of Colombia. Prized by plant enthusiasts for its impressive foliage and unique variegation, this philodendron thrives when given a moss pole to climb, allowing its large, elongated leaves to reach their full potential.

What to Expect

The plant you see in the photos is the exact one you will receive. Our sale plants have been propagated from mature stem cuttings, which has allowed them to develop impressively large leaves for such young plants.

What Makes Philodendron Jose Buono Special?

  • Impressive Foliage: The leathery green leaves can extend beyond 60 cm in length, with creamy white variegation scattered throughout. The variegation pattern is unique to each leaf, making every plant a one-of-a-kind addition to your collection.
  • Epiphytic Climber: This philodendron excels when provided with a moss pole or other climbing structure, which encourages strong growth and larger leaves.

Care Instructions for Philodendron Jose Buono

The Philodendron Jose Buono is relatively easy to care

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause brown, dry leaf edges and a yellow tint to the variegation. Insufficient light may result in elongated stems and discoloured leaves.
  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid overwatering. Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil is dry. Under-watering can lead to brittle, dry leaves, while overwatering can cause the leaves to become limp and soft. These plants also thrive in passive hydroponics.
  • Humidity: Thrives in humidity levels above 60%, but can be grown in lower levels of humidity.

Add the Philodendron Jose Buono to your collection for a striking, slow-growing climber with beautiful variegated foliage and impressive size potential.

Shipping

This plant will be sent in its plastic growing pot

We only ship plants on Mondays. Please order before 2pm on Sunday to ensure your plant will be sent the following Monday. Orders placed after this time MIGHT not be shipped untill the following week.

We only ship plants to non-quarantine states (sorry sorry WA, TAS and NT residents). Shipping of plants is capped at $18.00 per order. This includes the packing materials and labour times. We use recycled packing where possible to reduce our waste and keep cost down, but we ensure that all packing material is sturdy enough to resist damage during transit.

If no one is home to receive your order, the parcel will be left in a safe place. We will not request signature on delivery, as parcels sent back to the post office may not get picked up for days, therefore increasing the amount of stress placed on the plant(s) inside.

This plant can also be picked up from the Northern Wellbeing Centre; 113C miller st, Epping VIC. If you select this option at check-out, we will email you to organise a pick-up time.
