Mammillaria hahniana, commonly known as Old Lady Cactus, is a rounded cactus with dense white wool, fine spines and bright pink flowers that form near the top of the plant. Its soft, fluffy appearance makes it a popular choice for cactus collectors and sunny indoor displays.

Mammillaria hahniana – Old Lady Cactus for Bright Indoor Spaces

Dense White Wool Gives It a Soft, Rounded Look

This cactus is known for its covering of white wool and fine spines, which gives the plant its distinctive appearance. As it matures, it may form a fuller, rounded shape with a textured surface.

Bright Pink Flowers Add Seasonal Colour

When conditions are right, Old Lady Cactus can produce small pink to magenta flowers near the crown. These blooms add a strong contrast against the pale woolly growth.

Best Grown in Strong, Bright Light

Place this cactus in a very bright position, such as a sunny windowsill, greenhouse, enclosed patio or bright indoor growing setup. Gradual acclimatisation is best if moving it into stronger direct sun.

Allow the Soil to Dry Between Waterings

Use a free-draining cactus or succulent mix and let the soil dry out completely before watering again. Water sparingly during cooler months, as this plant is much better suited to dry conditions than wet potting mix.

Please note: The plant pictured is a representation of the plant you will receive. Each cactus will vary slightly in size, shape, wool coverage, spine formation and flowering stage.

Shipping

We ship plants every Monday to non-quarantine states. Please place your order before 2 pm on Sunday to ensure your plant is sent the following Monday. Orders placed after this time may not be shipped until the following week.

Orders to WA and TAS are shipped on selected dates only due to quarantine requirements. Orders for WA and TAS must be placed by 12 pm (midday) on the Friday before dispatch. Please see the list of WA and TAS shipping dates at the bottom of this page.

Shipping for plants to non-quarantine states is capped at $18.00 per order. Shipping for plants to WA and TAS is capped at $30.00 per order. We currently do not ship plants to NT.

Shipping costs include packing materials, labour, and certification where required. We use recycled packaging where possible to reduce waste and keep costs down, while ensuring all packing materials are sturdy enough to protect your plants during transit.

If no one is home to receive your order, the parcel will be left in a safe place. We do not request signature on delivery, as parcels returned to the post office may not be collected for several days, which can place additional stress on the plant(s) inside.

This plant can also be picked up from Northern Wellbeing Centre, 113C Miller Street, Epping VIC. If you select this option at checkout, we will email you to arrange a pickup time.
