Ficus Umbellata – The Soft-Leafed Statement Fig

Ficus Umbellata is gaining popularity among indoor plant lovers for its large, heart-shaped leaves and elegant, airy structure. With a softer appearance than its cousin the Fiddle-Leaf Fig, this plant brings a lighter, more whimsical aesthetic to any space.

Why Choose Ficus Umbellata?

  • Broad, heart-shaped leaves: Smooth, light green foliage with a gently undulating texture.
  • Airy, upright growth: Offers a sculptural yet delicate silhouette that works well in minimalist interiors.
  • Fast-growing & adaptable: With the right conditions, it can grow quickly and become an impressive indoor tree.

Care Requirements

  • Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Some gentle morning sun is fine, but avoid harsh afternoon rays.
  • Soil: Prefers a free-draining potting mix to prevent soggy roots.
  • Watering: Let the top 2–4 cm of soil dry out between waterings. Sensitive to overwatering.
  • Humidity: Appreciates moderate humidity and good airflow. Extremely dry air may cause leaf browning.
  • Temperature: Not tolerant of cold. Keep in a warm, stable indoor environment away from drafts or cold windows.

A More Sensitive Choice

Ficus Umbellata can be a little more temperamental than other indoor figs. It prefers consistency in light, temperature, and watering. With proper care, though, it rewards growers with stunning foliage and graceful form.

Shipping

This plant will be sent in its plastic growing pot.

We ship plants every Monday to non-quarantine states. Please place your order before 2 pm on Sunday to ensure your plant is sent the following Monday. Orders placed after this time may not be shipped until the following week.

Orders to WA and TAS are shipped on selected dates only due to quarantine requirements. Orders for WA and TAS must be placed by 12 pm (midday) on the Friday before dispatch. Please see the list of WA and TAS shipping dates at the bottom of this page.

Shipping for plants to non-quarantine states is capped at $18.00 per order. Shipping for plants to WA and TAS is capped at $30.00 per order. We currently do not ship plants to NT.

Shipping costs include packing materials, labour, and certification where required. We use recycled packaging where possible to reduce waste and keep costs down, while ensuring all packing materials are sturdy enough to protect your plants during transit.

If no one is home to receive your order, the parcel will be left in a safe place. We do not request signature on delivery, as parcels returned to the post office may not be collected for several days, which can place additional stress on the plant(s) inside.

This plant can also be picked up from Northern Wellbeing Centre, 113C Miller Street, Epping VIC. If you select this option at checkout, we will email you to arrange a pickup time.
