In our opinion Black Maranta are the most stunning, yet slowest growing variety of maranta.
The plant you see in the pictured is the plant you will receive.
Please note that these plants are not 'Black Marana noID'. They are true Black Maranta, propagated and grown from our mother plant which has been in our collection for years. All of our stock have come from this original mother plant. Younger leaves of this plant look similar to a maranta silver band, but as the plant matures, you'll see striking black markings show up on either side of the silver band along the midrib of the leaf.
About the Genus
Maranta is a genus of plants that are collectively referred to as 'prayer plants' (calathea are also often given this name). At night, these plants fold their leaves upwards, resembling praying hands.
Prayer plants can also move their leaves regularly throughout the day. They'll position their leaves to receive an ideal amount of light. This plant has been growing under bright grow lights, and hence has its leaves angled downwards to ensure they do not receive too much light. If you place this plant in lower light, you'll find that it will angle its leaves towards the light. The ability to move their leaves throughout the day allows prayer plants to thrive under various lighting conditions. In very low light, a prayer plant can track the light as it moves across a room throughout the day.
Care information
Maranta love moisture and should ideally be kept in environments with > 60 % humidity, however they will cope just fine in regular household humidity. Although it's not ideal, they can even tolerate the low humidity typical of a heated home throughout winter.
The key to keeping a maranta happy is to never let their potting mix dry out, however sopping wet soil will cause root rot. Best way to keep these plants is in a well draining soil mix (eg. 50% perlite and 50% potting mix) and a self-watering pot. They also grow well in passive hydroponics, but their very fine roots make them difficult to convert from soil to hydro. If you want to grow them hydroponically, you are best to take a cutting, root it in water, and then grow the rooted cutting hydroponically.
As mentioned earlier, maranta's ability to move their leaves make them tolerant of a wide variety of lighting conditions. Bright indirect light is ideal, but they can also thrive in lower light environments or with some direct morning sun.
Maranta are not prone to pests. Their leaves will curl if they are not happy; for example if they are receiving too much light, not enough water, or are experiencing root rot. They are prone to browning on the tips of their leaves, which can be prevented with good airflow and regular application of a fungicide such as Myclobutanii.
Maranta are non-toxic, which makes them pet and child friendly.

Shipping
This plant will be sent in its plastic growing pot
We only ship plants on Mondays. Please order before 2pm on Sunday to ensure your plant will be sent the following Monday. Orders placed after this time MIGHT not be shipped untill the following week.
We only ship plants to non-quarantine states (sorry sorry WA, TAS and NT residents). Shipping of plants is capped at $18.00 per order. This includes the packing materials and labour times. We use recycled packing where possible to reduce our waste and keep cost down, but we ensure that all packing material is sturdy enough to resist damage during transit.
If no one is home to receive your order, the parcel will be left in a safe place. We will not request signature on delivery, as parcels sent back to the post office may not get picked up for days, therefore increasing the amount of stress placed on the plant(s) inside.
This plant can also be picked up from the Northern Wellbeing Centre; 113C miller st, Epping VIC. If you select this option at check-out, we will email you to organise a pick-up time.
The beautiful Maranta looked perfect when it arrived. Even a new, delicate flower stalk remained unscathed, and went on to flower soon afterwards, despite the rigours of packing and transit. Thank you, you're the best.

Amazing quality and carefully packed. I literally cannot stop admiring them. Comprehensive service.
Just the size I was after. Shelf height excellent. Really like the fact it can very simply be expanded with another stand. Daunting there are so many nuts and bolts however get yourself a cordless and a hex socket and it's easy to assemble. Sturdy with all the bracing. Very happy with it.
I have just received the foldable shelves that I ordered for my kitchen.
The unit comes already assembled and just has to be opened out for use.
We found the unit really well designed and were impressed by how well it works.
However we were disappointed to find several areas that were already affected by rust. These were predominately the unpainted screws but there was also some sign of rust beneath the black coating.
We immediately applied oil to hopefully limit this.
The unit came wrapped in plastic that had to be cut off.
It is impossible to know when this happened, as the unit could have been sitting somewhere for a long time.
I have no complaints about 'Green My Space'.
The ordering was easy and the delivery timely.
There was a small issue that was picked up and I appreciated the apology I received.
I have no problem with recommending the shelves as they are excellent, it is just a shame about the rust.
I was looking for higher vegie boxes as I have a dog. This is exactly what I was looking for and for a great price!. The same sized Vegie box was 286$ at my usual hardware store. I purchased 2 of these for the same price as I would've paid for 1 locally. After putting the first one together using a torque drill and socket on the nut it halved the time. I also got free delivery and arrived in 3 days. Very happy. I will be back If I need more
